Uncover
our story

Hey there! My name is Miles. This all started after seeing a video on Youtube in which a man was efoiling through a city at sunrise, gliding so fast and effortless. It was so calm and serene. I thought “I need this!” So I searched my area, but nothing came up. A few years later I tried again and found a guy in Washington doing lessons, booked asap, and had such an incredible time. I loved the quiet, the speed, and the feeling of flying. So I got some boards and started Efoil PDX.

That was 4 years ago. And since then I have learned a lot, become an Oregon Outfitter, CPR certified, and have taught over 200 people! I really enjoy sharing this sport with people. Every single person has had a wonderful time and has had substantial success on their first lesson! I try to make each person’s time the most enjoyable as possible and give them as much space as they want to learn and practice, but am always there to offer advice and answer questions.

 FAQs

  • Previous clients that have shown a certain level of skill, situational awareness, and have knowledge of the area may be able to launch alone at a discounted rate. But they must be return clients and have foiled the area before.

  • Good balance and throttle/trigger control. Any board sport experience is transferable and will help get you going! You control the throttle, so you can go your own pace.

  • Actual ride time varies with rider weight and amount of throttle used. Most first-time lessons run 2 hours from time of put-in to take-out. It is possible that an experienced or heavy rider may run out the battery before 2 hrs.

  • The two person lessons start with the instructor and one rider (two boards). The first rider gets one-on-one instruction to get them familiar with operation and technique, usually about 15 minutes. Then the riders are switched out. After both riders are comfortable and require no more instruction, they are allowed to ride together with both boards until the session is up.

  • I provide life vests, helmets, and 3mm wetsuits. Wet suits are recommended for non-summer days. Water temps during the season are typically 64-77F.

  • Probably! Most of my clients DO foil with at least some control on the first session!

  • For sure. Let’s go!
